Meet The Team: Tampa, Florida

President-Elect
Mahi Patel
I am Mahi Patel, and I am in 11th grade at J.W. Mitchell High School. I am interested in pursuing a career in pediatrics, where I can not only care for children's medical needs but also truly understand and support them. Through ICW, I have been able to donate and work with kids while seeing firsthand the impact our organization creates. From assembling care packages to organizing holiday donations, I love seeing how our efforts bring smiles to cancer patients. I am also passionate about spreading awareness about ICW and sharing the work we do to support cancer patients. ICW has had a huge impact on my life and the lives of others, inspiring me to continue putting in more effort and dedication.

Reporter
Madison Walker
My name is Madison Walker, and I am in the eleventh grade at J.W. Mitchell High School. I am a reporter for ICW, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about different types of cancer, how to recognize them, and how to support those who have been diagnosed. I hope to pursue a career in pediatrics because I love working with children, and being able to care for them and help them feel better every day would be my dream.
Being part of ICW has helped me learn more about the different cancers that can affect children. We host booths and organize fundraisers at elementary schools to spread awareness and educate younger students about different types of cancer. Helping kids learn and understand these topics is very important to me. Through this experience, I have grown even more passionate about pursuing pediatrics and learning more about childhood cancer. In the future, I hope to help not only children but anyone currently fighting their battle with cancer.

President-Elect
Maria Chang
I’m Maria Chang, and I am a junior at J.W. Mitchell High School. I’m interested in attending medical school and hopefully becoming a physician-scientist specializing in oncology research. I joined ICW during the first year it was introduced at our school, and after seeing the impact it had on the community, I realized I wanted to become more involved. That inspired me to run for President-Elect.
Since taking on this role, I’ve been able to contribute directly to such an important cause through outreach, donations, and fundraising. I love being able to see firsthand the positive impact that ICW has on those affected by cancer, and I’m excited to see all the great things we will continue to accomplish in the years to come.

Product Manager
Breanna McDowell
Hi! I’m Breanna, and I’m a senior at J.W. Mitchell High School in Florida. I plan to major in Chemistry in college and work toward developing pharmaceutical drugs, treatments, and technology to help treat neurodegenerative disorders. I’ve conducted research papers on how hormones and genetic predisposition can impact Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis rates, and I hope to move from analyzing existing data to eventually conducting my own research.
I decided to join ICW because of the meaningful impact it allows me to have. Through the organization’s outreach and community involvement, I’ve been able to connect with people and contribute to efforts that support those affected by cancer. Being part of ICW has given me the opportunity to reach further into our community and help create a positive impact.

Reporter
Jena Kassam
I am Jena Kassam, and I am in the 11th grade at J.W. Mitchell High School. I serve as a reporter for our school’s ICW chapter, where I take photos at many of the events our club hosts to help document and share our work.
In the future, I hope to become a reconstructive plastic surgeon. I would especially like to help women who, due to different circumstances, have had mastectomies and are seeking reconstructive surgery so they can feel like themselves again.
As a reporter, I’ve been able to see firsthand everything our club has accomplished. I loved seeing all the elementary school students who came up to our booths, excited and curious to learn more. Another accomplishment I’m really proud of is the many cards we collected and delivered to children with cancer. We received so many beautiful and creative cards made with care, and it means a lot to be able to support those kids in a meaningful way.

Treasurer
Mansi Mehta
My name is Mansi Mehta, and I am a 12th grade student at J.W. Mitchell High School. I hope to pursue a career in ocular oncology. This interest comes from my research on how widespread cancer is and my understanding that it can occur in almost any part of the body. Many people overlook the possibility of cancer in the eye, yet it is just as serious as any other type because it can be life-threatening.
Being part of ICW allows me to contribute to something meaningful by helping raise awareness about cancer and educating a broader community about why it should never be taken lightly. Through this organization, I have also been able to interact with those battling cancer and show support through the many thoughtful cards we create. Each card is made with care and effort to remind patients that they are supported and cared for during their fight.

Secretary
Joyce Misherky
I’m Joyce Misherky, a 12th grader at J.W. Mitchell High School and proud Secretary of our ICW chapter. I’m deeply passionate about our work because every dollar we raise goes directly to cancer research and awareness, something few organizations can truly guarantee.
Volunteering at events like Relay for Life and seeing the patients who benefit from our donations and care packages has shown me the real impact we’re making. What makes ICW so meaningful to me is that we’re not just supporting a cause—we’re supporting people. Whether we’re running booths, staffing festivals, or assembling care baskets, we dedicate ourselves to educating our community, uplifting patients, and making a genuine difference in their lives.
